Midway Elementary and Patterson Elementary Schools were recognized as Distinguished Title 1 Schools at the Board of Education meeting last Monday night. Shown l-r are Midway Principal Dr. Brandi Todd and Patterson Principal Amanda Lankford. The two schools were among 80 of the 1,600 elementary schools in the state earning the honor. The Distinguished School honor is given to those schools that rank in the top five percent among elementary schools in the state based on its College and Career Readiness Performance Index (CCRPI) scores. The award recognizes the highest performing Title 1 schools academically in the state, specifically schools that have marked improvement in academic achievement when compared to the previous year. Title 1 schools are those where at least 40 percent of its enrollment receive free and reduced lunch and have economic challenges. All Pierce County Schools are Title 1 schools.
