Pierce County got a head start on Independence Day Sunday evening with a fireworks display. The evening was pleasant, but humid and muggy, as temperatures fell back in to the 80s, following a high near 100 degrees. Brilliant colors of the display illuminated the night sky over Emmanuel Baptist Church and were visible for miles around. Emmanuel Baptist Church sponsored the display.
