Pierce SAFE Shooting Team takes second place at Coffee

The Pierce County 4-H SAFE BB Team competed in the 2025 VFW Shooting Match in Douglas, GA on February 8. Twenty teams and 130 shooting athletes across Georgia participated. A total of 17 awards were brought home to Pierce County.

The Pierce Red 1 team placed 2nd with a team score of 2324 and 72 center shots. The Pierce Red 1 team included Allie Herrin, JerriBeth Mullis, Austin Brymer, Gad De-Pratter, Eli Locklear, Taylor Sexton, and Dixie Griffis.

The Pierce Red 2 team placed 7th with a team score of 2175 and 28 center shots. The Pierce Red 2 team included Aleeah Eason, Auden Brymer, Maxon Dixon, Riley Sexton, and Andrew Davis.

The Pierce Red 3 team placed 8th with a team score of 2150 and 29 center shots. The Pierce Red 3 team included Eli Chesser, Case Deal, Eva King, Hunter Deal, and Mikah Deal.

Allie Herrin took top honors, placing 1st Individually with a total score of 480 and 24 center shots, 1st in the Standing Position, 2nd in the Sitting Position, and a 100competition test score.

JerriBeth Mullis shot a perfect (100) target in the Prone Position with 8 center shots. Mullis placed 1st in the Prone Position, achieved a 100-competition test score, was a Top 10 Shooter, and broke her 2025 Competition Personal Record with a 473 and 16 center shots score.

Austin Brymer shot a perfect (100) target in the Prone Position with 7 center shots achieving him a 2nd place position medal. Brymer was a Top 20 Shooter and broke his 2025 Competition Personal Record with a 463 and 15 center shots score.

Eli Chesser, Aleeah Eason, and Taylor Sexton all made a 100 on their competition test and broke their 2025 Competition Personal Records. Chesser and Eason were both Top 20 Shooters. Dixie Griffis, Ayden Brymer, Case Deal, Eva King, Hunter Deal, and Mikah Deal all broke their 2025 Competition Personal Records.

The Georgia 4-H SAFE Shooting Sports program provides youth a place to develop a sense of belonging, learn teamwork, and increase concentration skills in a safe place. Safety and the responsible use of firearms is a primary goal. Coaches Rebecca Mullis, Tommy Cooper, Adam Herrin, Miranda Herrin, Casey Caswell, and Kayla Brigmond lead the shooting program.

The Pierce 4-H SAFE BB Shooting Team will travel to Appling County, Saturday, February 15, 2025, to compete in the Tree City Shootout. You can follow their progress on orionresults.com. You can show your local shooting sports support by contacting a SAFE Team member or parent, the Pierce County 4-H Office, or SAFE Coaches to make a RADA Cutlery Fundraiser Order. Fundraiser ends February 20, 2025, and has an online order option.
