Five men were injured Wednesday, January 29 when a tractor-trailer struck the trailer of a parked vehicle on Georgia 4, the Georgia State Patrol said.

Two of the men — the driver of the semi and one of the four occupants of the vehicle — were lifeflighted to University Florida Health-Jacksonville. The other three were taken to Memorial Satilla Health by Ware County EMS for treatment of their injuries.

Ryan Case, 45 of Jacksonville, and Jose Zuniga, 62 of Tifton, suffered injuries to the extent they were transported by helicopter to Jacksonville following the early afternoon accident.

Christian Obeida, 42, Reyne Cruz, 40, and Pablo Sanchez, 20, all of Tifton were the others involved in the incident. Those three, along with Zuniga, were out of their vehicle on the side of the road at the time of the accident.

According to the incident report, Case was driving his 2020 Peterbilt tanker truck south on Georgia 4 while the other vehicle and trailer were parked on the west shoulder facing south.

Case’s truck struck the left rear of the trailer with the right front fender sending the vehicle and trailer into the four pedestrians.

Trooper Chase Middleton investigated the accident.
