Gaines Chapel has Black History event Gaines Chapel A.M.E. Church, 805 S. Georgia Pkwy. E., will celebrate Black History at 2 p.m., Sunday, February 16.

The congregation, community members and those of “The Divine 9” will participate. Refreshments will be served following the program.

Leadership event at Upper Room The Upper Room Outreach Ministries, 702 Ossie Davis Parkway, will be the site for a Next Level Status Leadership Summit, Thursday-Saturday, February 20-22.

Programs are 7:30 p.m. February 20-21 and 10 a.m. February 22. Featured speakers are Dr. Eric Brown, Apostle Terry A. Weems, Sr., Dr. Meme Brown, Pastor Shide Weems and Dr. Renae Sellers.

River of Life starts resource program River of Life Church, 1439 Brunel Street, offers a community resource center from 10 a.m. to noon, the fourth Friday of each month.

The program will offer practical life skills, hot meals, clothing and more. Next session is February 28.

Grace Episcopal talks Taylor book Grace Episcopal Church, 401 Pendleton Street, will host a book study of The Tide is Now by renowned author and Episcopal Sister Joan Chittitster.

DC Downtown has food ministry

DC Downtown Food Ministry offers food items from a 5,000-square foot warehouse at 201 Jenkins Street from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

The ministry serves people from more than a dozen counties in southeast Georgia and north Florida.

Way of Cross EPC has food giveaway Way of the Cross EPC holds a free food and clothing giveaway at 8 a.m. the first Saturday of each month at 512 Lee Avenue.

People should bring a bag or box for items. The first-come, first-served giveaway will next be held March 1.

Items are available from donations by Waycross Food Distributor, Southern Acre Farm, LLC and Charlie’s Chicken.

Higher Heights has food ministry The food ministry of Higher Heights True Word of God offers items from 9 to 11 a.m., the first Thursday of each month at 979 Tebeau Street.

Next giveaway is March 6. The program is accepting donations.

Men With Power meets 1st Saturday Men With Power meets the first Saturday of each month at Faith Outreach Ministries, 200 Tebeau Street.

The next meeting is 9 a.m. Saturday, March 1. The session is open to all men and boys.

Feed My Sheep seeks donations Peter Feed My Sheep food ministry is accepting donations for its meal program for the homeless.

In addition to the holiday meals, the outreach provides clothing and personal hygiene items to the needy.

Donations are accepted with checks payable to Peter Feed My Sheep and sent to 613 Sweat Street, Waycross, 31501, or with Cash App, $peterfeed mysheep.
