Inagural Purple Run honors Sander’s legacy
Friends (L-R) Sheri Cleary, Miya Kennedy-White, Yolanda Rivers and Dinah Myrick wouldn’t let near freezing temperatures keep them from the run.

The inagural Sergeant Kennedy L. Sanders 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run was held on January 25 in downtown Waycross.

“It was an honor to see so many participants come together to support the foundation and commemorate the legacy of Kennedy Sanders and her family,” posted a city official. “We are grateful for everyone who joined us in this meaningful event. As a community, we must remember Sergeant Sanders and recognize her sacrifice for our city, our state, and our country.”

The Sergeant Kennedy L. Sanders Foundation is a non profit which provides scholarships to students seeking higher education.
