Clinton Barnwell ‘Clint’ Griffin

WAYCROSS — Mr. Clinton Barnwell “Clint” Griffin, 88 of Waycross, passed away late Sunday evening, February 2, 2025, at his residence in Waycross.

Born June 25, 1936 in Hoboken, Griffin had lived in Ware County since the late 1970s. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force having served during the Vietnam theater.

Griffin would go on to retire from Flash Foods as an auditor after 24.5 years of service. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing golf and participating in golf tournaments. Griffin also enjoyed gardening, especially rose bushes, and reading.

Griffin was a son of the late Aaron William and Agnes Lucille Crosby Griffin.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Roberson Griffin; a sister, Beatrice Blalock; and six brothers, Morris, Glynn, Ronald, Larry, Lannis and Donald Griffin.

Survivors include his daughter, Brenda Griffin of Waycross; his son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Diane Griffin of Blackshear; a sister, Janice (Larry) Evans of Dupont; two brothers, Kenneth Griffin of Blackshear and Jerry (Susie) Griffin of Offerman; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service for Griffin was held Thursday morning, February 6, 2025 from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bill Young officiating.

Interment followed in the Offerman Cemetery with full military honors.

Belinda Leona Lynn Whitlow

HORTENSE — Belinda Leona Lynn Whitlow, 53, of Hortense passed away Sunday afternoon, February 2, 2025, at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick after an extended illness.

Ms. Whitlow was born in Brunswick to John Lavelle Lynn, Sr. and Leona Kersey Lynn and lived in Hortense all of her life.

She was an active person, always doing things with her hands. Ms. Whitlow enjoyed painting, tending to her plants and roses and when she slowed down she enjoyed doing puzzles. Some of her favorite animals were horses, birds and Oscars.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Lavelle Lynn, Sr. and Leona Kersey Lynn.

Survivors include two daughters, Harley Manning of Hortense and Amber Rae Whitlow of Hortense; two grandchildren, Delman Lynn and Nevaeh Whitlow; one brother, John Lavelle Lynn (Ina) of Hortense; two sisters, Velvet Lee Fones (Troy) of Hortense, and Pamela Strickland (Jonathan) of Hortense; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
