He was born May 9, 1932 in Blackshear to James and Birdie Henderson. He graduated from Blackshear High School. He was called to serve a two-year mission in the Southern California Mission, USA for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. After his honorable discharge, he married Melba Jane Burkehalter. They raised  six children living in Georgia all their lives.
He worked 30 years as a salesman for Blue Cross & Blue Shield Insurance Company. He was a valiant disciple of the Lord and a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, having donated his time, talents and money to spread the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
He found joy in the outdoors, gardening, and serving in the Temple. He especially enjoyed spending time with his wife and family. He was renowned as a great cook and loved having large groups of friends and family to gather and eat together.
