A Blackshear man has been arrested and charged with driving under the influence (DUI) in connection with a May, 2024 traffic accident that resulted in the death of a youngster on Tyre Bridge Road in Patterson.
Dalton Cason was arrested Sunday, February 2, and charged with misdemeanor DUI of alcohol/controlled substance in connection with the May 19, 2024 accident.
Cason has been released on bond. The case will be heard in Pierce County State Court.
The charges were the result of blood and urine analysis and an investigation by the Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collission Reconstruction Team (SCRT).
Law enforcement sources tell The Times the investigation did not reveal circumstances in the accident that would support vehicular homicide charges.
Logan Sharpe, 7, a first grader at Patterson Elementary, died of injuries he sustained in the accident.
According to the preliminary report at the time, Sharpe was struck by a Ford F150 pick up truck driven by Cason. Cason was headed southbound on Tyre Bridge Road.
