Anderson opens real estate brokerage

Waycross native Kristie Anderson is honored to be the first black broker and owner of a real estate brokerage in her hometown.

A 1995 honor graduate of Ware County High School, Anderson opened Honeyland Properties Real Estate and Property Management at 903 Elizabeth Street Monday, January 20.

“I grew up on Elizabeth Street and to now make history on this same street, it holds extra special significance and meaning,” she said. “Honeyland Properties looks forward to supporting the real estate needs of my hometown as well as the entire Southeast Georgia region.”

Following her graduation from Ware County, Anderson earned a BBA in Marketing from Georgia Southern. She lived in Atlanta for 20 years returning home in 2021 during COVID to be closer to family.

Anderson quickly realized there was a great need for affordable housing in Waycross. This realization led her to pursue a real estate license as a means to create change and work to improve housing disparities.

Anderson earned her Georgia real estate license in July 2021 and began working with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services. Within three years, she assisted over 150 families to achieve home ownership.

Anderson became a real estate broker in September 2024. She received approval October 28 from the Georgia Real Estate Commission to form Honeyland Properties.

Anderson is an active community volunteer, having been a board member (2022-24) for the Okefenokee Alliance for the Homeless (OATH) and is a present member of the Georgia Initiative for Community Housing (GICH) committee.

She also uses her grant writing skills to aid non-profit organizations targeting youth initiatives in Ware and Pierce counties.

Anderson said she “looks to her faith and passion to use Honeyland Properties as a beacon to bridge the affordable housing gaps and to continue to be a catalyst and facilitator for change in the areas that need it most.”
