Six injured in three-car wreck near airport

LULATON — A three-car wreck early Tuesday morning at Knox Road injured all three drivers and three passengers, according to a Georgia State Patrol report.

Trooper Chris Rigby worked the 6:03 a.m., January 28, 2025 collision on Georgia 520 intersected at Knox Road.

Jack Johnson, 30, of a Nahunta address was driving a 2000 GMC New Sierra north on Knox Road.

Kawanda Bolds, 50, of a Waycross address was driving a 2016 Nissan Altima east on Georgia 520 approaching Knox Road in the left lane.

Calvin Thomas, 62, of a Waycross address was driving a 1997 GMC Sierra C 1500 traveling east on Georgia 520 approaching Knox Road in the right lane.

Johnson failed to stop at the stop sign at Knox Road and Georgia 520 and entered the path of the Bolds’ vehicle. The 2000 GMC New Sierra driven by Johnson struck the 2016 Nissan Altima in the front bumper area with its driver-side front bumper.

After impact, Johnson’s vehicle rotated counterclockwise 360 degrees coming to a final controlled stop in the eastbound lane of 520. The vehicle came to a final uncontrolled stop in the north ditch of 520 with its front facing northeast. It also rotated counter clock clockwise in the roadway.

After impact, the Bolds’ vehicle traveled across the medium of 520 while traveling east. The Nissan Altima crossed both westbound lanes traveling to the left shoulder of Georgia 520 into the north ditch, striking its front.

The Thomas vehicle struck Johnson’s vehicle in the front bumper area with its rear passenger quarter panel. The 1997 GMC Sierra C 1500 came to a final uncontrolled rest in the left lane of Georgia 520 with its front facing west.

Both passengers of the Johnson vehicle and Johnson were transported to southeast Memorial Health Center in Brunswick by Brantley County EMS.

No report was given of injuries to Bolds or her passenger, 29-year-old Cornealius Clark of Waycross. Thomas had visible injuries to his face, but did not require medical treatment.

Johnson was charged with two citations, according to Trooper Rigby’s report.
