Animal waste spilled from along Hwy. 121 from Hoboken to Bristol

Big stink

HOBOKEN — An Atkinson County company truck hauling animal waste spilled some of its contents down the length of Georgia Highway 121 and a small section of Georgia Highway 32.

The path of waste was from Hoboken to Bristol, including Main Street in Blackshear. The Monday morning, February 3 spillage caus a stinky, awful mess.

The City of Hoboken, City of Blackshear and Pierce County have issued citations to the driver and company, according to Blackshear Police Chief Chris Wright. The company’s insurance company will be coming to clean up the mess added Wright.

The driver said he was unaware of the spill and blamed a faulty latch on the truck as the reason for the mess.

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) also responded Monday to help with the issue.

Wright said odor problems are likely to continue for a few days even after clean up.
