CSX maintenance project set

Special to The Beacon

CSX Transportation has announced a track maintenance project beginning Monday, February 24.

The two-week project, which is expected to be finished by March 7, 2025, includes the installation of new rail within the track surface along parts of the CSX Brunswick subdivision.

The affected areas in western Brantley County are Hickox Lane, Dixon Road, Miles Still Road, Bennett Road and Evergreen Way.

There are two private crossings, the first one between Dixon Road and Miles Still Road, and the second between Miles Still Road and Bennett Road.

With the one-way in/out crossings, CSX will work as hard as possible to have those accessible within 24 hours (or less).

Crossings will be closed anywhere from 3-5 days depending on the type of maintenance they are set to receive. Crossings will be closed for the entire duration of the project.

The estimated closure time frames are the only approximation CSX can provide. Dates are highly subject to change with or without notice due to many unforeseen circumstances that can occur in the field once work begins.
