Lorin Lavaghn Arnold

Lorin Lavaghn Arnold, 81, passed away Saturday evening, July 22, 2023, at his residence in Waycross, following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Millwood, to the late John Calvin “J.C.” Arnold and Oveda Griffin Arnold. He was involved in his family’s business for many years at Arnold Farms of Belize. He owned Chekmate convenience stores in the area and was a member of Okefenokee Country Club for over 50 years. For many years, Lorin loved playing golf six to seven days a week with his son, grandsons and friends. One of his most memorable golf experiences was playing at St. Andrews, Scotland with Duane. He also loved a trip to Vegas, especially when his family was able to accompany him. He truly loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.    He served in the United States Air Force from 1959-1963.  

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brother, James “Huey” Arnold.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene Arnold, Waycross; a daughter, Dana Robbins  (Bryan)m Waycross;  a son, Duane Arnold (Helen), Blackshear; six grandchildren, Captain Kristyn Dial (K.D.), Caitlyn Thigpen (Jed), Kolby Robbins (Madison), Ian Arnold, Emily Arnold and Ethan Arnold; one great-grandson, Jayce Thigpen; three siblings, Jean McCarty (Benny), Clarice Miles and Norman Arnold (Rita), all of Waycross and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, at the funeral home.

A private graveside will be held at Oakland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations made in his honor to Hospice Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, GA  31501.
