We just went through a snowstorm, and I was so blessed. My power stayed on. A lot of people were without power and water. For a lot of them, this also meant no heat.

I spent a lot of time on Facebook and was amazed at the ingenuity of southern people to turn a hardship into entertainment.

This time people didn’t have to head north for winter sports. I saw pictures of people sledding with a paddle boat and a horse pulling it, or a tractor pulling it, or a lawn mower pulling it.

I saw a lawn mower with a flattened box in front, being used as a snowplow. Children sledding in plastic bins. Some just body sledding. Some sledded on tables upside down being pulled.

People improvised with whatever they had at home to turn this unusual weather into fun time. Most of these activities were parents and children making memories together.

AND, just think. During this unusual weather we weren’t bothered by mosquitoes nor sand gnats.

Even though this is the shortest month in the year, there is a lot going on in February. Just a reminder if you are ordering flowers for someone special for Valentines Day, get your order in early. Next to Mother’s Day, this is said to be the busiest day of the year for florists.

Another reminder, it’s time to plant your potatoes.

After watching the inauguration on January 20th, I watched a program about Martin Luther King on TBN about “I have a dream.” I want to tell you my heart was in a different place than it was when all this was going on.

I asked myself why? I realized it was then I was afraid about what would be happening next. People were dying in the marches.

The marches would start out to be peaceful and something would happen. Sometimes it would be hotheads in the march or outside interference.

Whether we realize it or not, we have always depended on each other. Today, I think we are more divided in politics than anything else. Maybe that will even change.
