Pierce County 4-H SAFE BB Team takes top honors in Tifton

The Pierce County 4-H SAFE BB Team competed in the 2025 Daylight Lodge Invitation in Tifton Saturday, January 25. Eighteen teams and 118 shooters participated. Awards were given for Returning Shooters and First Year Shooters individually.

Pierce County’s Pierce Red 1 Returning Shooting Team received top honors. The Pierce Red team included Allie Herrin, Gad DePratter, Aleeah Eason, Eli Chesser, Eli Locklear, and Austin Brymer.

Pierce Red 2 First Year Shooting Team achieved 2nd place. The Pierce Red 2 Team included Dixie Griffis, Riley Sexton, Taylor Sexton, Eva King and Ayden Brymer.

Returning Shooter Allie Herrin took 1st Overall Individual, 2nd in the Standing Position2nd in the Sitting Position, received a certificate for a 100-testing score, and broke her personal 2025 shooting competition record. Returning Shooter Gad DePratter took 4th Overall Individual, 4th in the Kneeling Position, received a certificate for a 100-testing score, and broke his personal 2025 shooting competition record.

Returning Shooter Aleeah Eason placed 4th in the Kneeling Position and finished in the Top 10 amongst returning shooters. Returning Shooter Eli Chesser placed 2nd in the Prone Position, 3rd in the Kneeling Position and finished in the Top 10 amongst returning shooters. Returning Shooter Eli Locklear placed 4th in the Prone Position and 2nd in the Kneeling Position. Returning Shooters Jerri-Beth Mullis, Austin Brymer, Mason Dixon, Andrew Davis, Aleeah Eason, Eli Chesser and Eli Locklear all broke their personal 2025 shooting competition record.

First Year Shooter Dixie Griffis took 3rd Overall Individual, 2nd in the Standing Position, 1st in the Sitting Position and broke her personal 2025 shooting competition record. Riley Sexton finished in the Top 10 amongst first year shooters and broke his personal 2025 shooting competition record. Taylor Sexton received a certificate for a 100-testing score and broke his 2025 shooting competition record. First Year Shooters Eva King and Ayden Brymer also broke their 2025 shooting competition record.

The same day, three volunteers attended the Georgia 4-H Project SAFE Certified Training in Hamilton. Kayla Brigmond, Casey Caswell and Miranda Herrin all received their Georgia 4-H SAFE Certified Coaches Certificate and will join Coaches Rebecca Mullis, Tommy Cooper and Adam Herrin in leading the Pierce 4-H SAFE BB & Air Rifle Shooting Programs.

The Georgia 4-H SAFE Shooting Sports program provides youth a place to develop a sense of belonging, learn teamwork, and increase concentration skills in a safe place. Safety and the responsible use of firearms is a primary goal.

First Year Shooters traveled to Wilkes County, Saturday, February 1, to compete in the Wilkes County SAFE BB 1st Year Shooter Match. You can show your support by contacting a SAFE Team member or parent, the Pierce County 4-H Office or any of the SAFE Coaches to make a RADA Cutlery fundraiser order. Fundraiser ends February 17, 2025, and has an online order option.
