Patterson Baptist Church is hosting the 2023 Back to School Shopping Event from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, July 22, at the church’s clothing closet, 3416 Wildwood Drive in Patterson. Parents of school aged children are invited to shop for new and gently used clothing for students at no cost.

Pierce County High School is currently looking to fill two staff positions for the 2023-24 school year: custodian and food assistant. Candidates should apply online at https://www.applitrack.com/piercecounty/onlineapp/.

PCHS is also looking for qualified substitute teachers for the upcoming school year. ESS is now responsible for the hiring, training and placement of substitute teachers. Those interested in working as a substitute, please visit www.ess.jobs.

Current faculty members who plan on driving a school bus or the activity bus this coming school year need to have your physical and drug screen conducted between July 14-24 at Ware Express Care. No appointment is necessary. A mandatory training session is also scheduled for 9 a.m. July 27 in the PCHS auditorium.

College of Coastal Georgia has a $1,000 scholarship opportunity available to recent high school students interested in welding. Email [email protected] for details.

Rising juniors: You are required to have the meningococcal booster shot before entering the 11th grade, unless your first dose was received on or after your 16th birthday. This shot is available at the Pierce County Health Department.

Registration for the fall semester driver’s ed will begin in August and will include six Saturdays in the fall.

All fans may now purchase reserved tickets for the 2023 PCHS football season that were not previously sold to returning seatholders.  The 2023 regular season includes six home dates and kicks off August 25 at home versus Jeff Davis. The Bears also play a home pre-season scrimmage August 11 against Clinch County.

PCHS summer business hours are 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays until fall semester begins. Pre-planning is set for July 31-Aug 4. The first day of classes will be Monday, August 7.
