The Gates

The Gates Church will host Gospel Music History Salutes from 7-9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at the Waycross Ballroom. Tickets are $25 each.

The Love Ball will feature tuxedos and gowns and a dinner and awards show. Awards include Southeast Georgia Legends, community service awards, recording artist and producer, pastor, community leader, music director, worship leader, musician, creative leader, on air radio personality and educator.

The event honors the Southeast Gospel Industry Network (GIN) which includes Pierce, Bacon, Coffee, Ware and Wayne Counties.

Bishop Kenneth Wells is the chief executive officer and national president and Dr. Deborah Brown is national director.

For more information, call (912) 406-1478. ***** The Gates Church will host the Church Girls Rock Pink Prayer and Praise Pajama Party from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday, March 14, at 6014 Homestead Road, Blackshear. The event will include creative and performing arts sessions in piano, voice, dance and drama as well as food, movies, arcade games and fun.

Kingsville Cemetery

Kingsville Cemetery near Offerman needs financial help for expansion and upkeep.

The cemetery, located off of Gardenia Drive near Mossy Pond Retrievers, is the community’s historic African-American burying ground.

Donations are being sought to maintain the cemetery and to complete site preparation for an expansion.

Donations for the Kingsville Cemetery project can be mailed to Charles Bailey, 6475 Gardenia Drive, Patterson, GA 31557 or to Annie Eckles Harris, 3433 Columbia Court, Decatur, GA 30032.

Foster/Clay Hill Cemetery

Efforts are underway to organize an upkeep/maintenance plan for the Foster/Clay Hill Cemetery near Offerman in Pierce County.

Those who have relatives buried there are asked to join to improve the clean up and maintenance situation at the cemetery. Families buried there include Wasdin, Winn, Kelly, Cason, Tyre, Thornton, Brauda, Boyette and others. Those interested in organizing a committee to care for the cemetery are asked to call Carla Mellott at (904) 704-3344 or send her a private message on Facebook.
