Virgil Leroy Thomas

WAYCROSS — Virgil Leroy Thomas, 75, died suddenly Thursday, January 23, 2025 at his residence in Waycross.

Thomas was born February 24, 1949 to the late Lewis Franklin Thomas and Mattie Copland Thomas in Green County, Arkansas. He was a 1971 graduate of the school for the blind. He loved to listen to books, listen to the TV and talk on the phone.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Leo White and Herman Lee Stacy.

He is survived by three sisters, Leah Allbritton of Waycross, Nellie Swain of Hoboken and Lydia Thrift of Waycross; a brother, Frank Thomas (Annette) of Arkansas; six nieces, Samantha Benham (James) of Manor, Shirley Holland (Shane) of Arkansas, Michelle White of Waycross, Tracie Maddox of Jacksonville, Fla., Doris Jean Willman of Arkansa, and Theresa Johnson (Mark) of Arkansas; six nephews, Christopher Thrift of Waycross, Peyton Rodriguez of Waycross, Sidney Pollard of Waycross, Charles Pollard of Arkansas, James Swain of Blackshear and David Swain of Hoboken; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Memorialization will be by cremation. The family will have a memorial service at a later date.
