Thomas Woodrow “Tommy” Foster, 77, of Patterson, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025, at his residence.
Born in Blackshear January 8, 1948, he lived in Pierce County most of his life. He was a 1966 graduate of Patterson High School and went on to graduate from Barber School. He worked at several local Barber shops for a number of years before changing careers and going to work for Julie Hat in Patterson in their maintenance department. He went on to retire from Waycross College where he had been the assistant director of maintenance. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and tending to flowers and, when he was younger, riding horses. He loved to “tinker” and could build anything he set his mind to. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was a son of the late Woodrow Foster and Vera Durrance Foster. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clinton Foster and Fred Foster.
Survivors include his daughter, Julie Foster, Patterson; his two grandchildren, Zayne Cason and Vera Blake Foster; eight sisters, Betty (Jimmy) Herrin, Waycross, Yvonne (Keith) Smith, Greensboro, Shirlene (Sam) Davis, Titusville, FL, Janice (Gwinnette) Aldridge, McRae; Carol Foster, Blackshear, Marilyn (Hunter) Hawkins, Clearwater, FL, Linda Foster, Blackshear, and Brenda (Bob) Dixon, Patterson; three brothers, Jimmy (Marie) Foster and Mike Foster, all of Patterson, and Ronnie (Sandy) Foster, Alma; a sister-in-law, Brenda Foster, Brunswick and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, February 1, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gwinnette Aldridge and the Rev. Tim Rowell officiating.
Interment followed in the Foster Cemetery.
Active pallbearers are Jimmy Beech, Terry Aldridge, Fred Foster, Blake Foster, Frank Foster and Foster Dixon.
Honorary pallbearers are his additional nephews.
