The Waycross Police Department is investigating a shooting early Saturday morning which left one city man dead and another wounded.
WPD Major Danny Hampton said officers reponded about 3:45 a.m. ,January 18 to a call reporting men in the 1500 block of Azalea Avenue had been shot.
When the officers arrived, they found two men who appeared to have been shot while inside a vehicle, Hampton said.
Ware County Emergency Medical Service was called to the scene to treat the men, one age 37 and the other age 31, Hampton said.
Both men were transported to Memorial Satilla Health for gunshot wounds, and the 37-yearold later died, said Hampton. The condition of the other victim was not available.
Hampton said investigation of the incident led authorities several blocks away from where the victims were found.
He said it appeared that may have been the location of the shooting, and it appeared the men traveled to the Azalea Avenue location and stopped.
Hampton said the investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made or warrants issued.
