All Pierce County residents will soon receive a new trash can as Ryland Environmental prepares to start take over the service January 2, 2023.
Ryland has begun delivering new trash cans to county residents and has started marking the location with paint.
“We have been marking service locations and the paint marks indicate where the can should be placed for service,” said Amaris Cox, Office Manager for Ryland.
Trash cans should be at the curbside by 6 a.m. on pick-up day. The cans should be pointed with the arrows on the lid facing the street. The cans should be at least three fee away from obstacles such as cars, mailboxes and power poles.
Residents will receive a letter/flyer with instructions. The letter/flyer will be color coated and the color will indicate which day of the week service will be provided to that household.
Orange will receive service Mondays, blue will be Tuesdays, yellow will be Wednesdays, green will be Thursdays and purple will be Fridays.
Cox said that any county resident who wants/needs a trash can and does not yet have a trash can or circle painted, should call Ryland’s local office at (912) 283-1336 to set up an account.
Ryland Environmental, Inc., was selected as the county’s new solid waste collection provider in September.
Ryland, based in Dublin, bid $18.25 per month for the service. The company will have a local office in Waycross.
Ryland will also bill residents quarterly and the new amount will be $54.75 per quarter.
The county’s current provider, Republic Services, bid $21.85 per month. Republic is based in Phoenix, AZ, but also has an office in Waycross. Republic will continue serving Pierce County residents through the end of the month.
Ryland and Republic were the only two bidders for the service.
The county voted to seek bids for residential solid waste service for its residents at its August meeting.
The county currently has about 6,600 households.
Ryland now serves Pierce County and the cities of Blackshear and Patterson.
