CANEY BAY — A note suggesting the potential of a bomb threat at Brantley County High School was discovered Friday by a student forcing swift action by adminstration and Brantley County Schools Police.
“We want to make it clear that Brantley County Schools will not tolerate any actions, comments, or threats that compromise the safety and well-being of our students and staff,” a release from the school system said. “Any individual making threats or false accusations will face the full extent of the law, with prosecution to the highest level allowed.
“The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority, and we will continue to take all necessary precautions to maintain a secure learning environment.”
The January 17 incident was treated as a potential threat. School administrators and SROs acted swiftly and responsibly by following all recommended procedures from Georgia Emergency Management (GEMA) and Homeland Security to ensure a thorough investigation and safety sweep of the building by law enforcement.
The investigation and sweep of the building confirmed that there was no credible threat.
Brantley County Schools commends the students who promptly reported the discovery of the note, demonstrating a strong commitment to safety.
