James Hardy Lane

HORTENSE – James Hardy Lane, 77 of Hortense, passed away Tuesday evening, January 14, 2025 after an extended illness.

Born in Brunswick, Lane’s parents were Joseph Hardy Lane and Deloris Boatright Lane. He is also preceded in death by two brothers, Hank Lane and Buck Lane; and a sister, Vernie Sue Lane.

Lane was a brick mason and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He loved talking about his military career with his grandson, Paul Jones, Jr., going fishing, gardening and especially doing masonry.

Survivors include his daughter, Casey Jones of Hortense; a son-in-law, Paul Jones, Sr. of Hortense; three grandchildren, Gracie Bent, Paul Jones, Jr., and Paige Douglas; five great grandchildren, Hudson Bent, Landon Douglas, Laison Douglas, Abel Douglas and Mason Douglas; a sister, Doris Bunkley of Dublin; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to offset funeral cost.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
