Helen Cravey Waters

Helen Cravey Waters, 89, of Nahunta, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross.

Born in Alamo February 16, 1933, she had lived in Brunswick for many years before moving to Blackshear in 2007. She was retired from the Glynn County Board of Education where she had been a paraprofessional. She enjoyed working in her yard and being a member of the Red Hat Society. She was a founding member of College Place United Methodist Church in Brunswick and was currently attending Blackshear First United Methodist Church.

She was a daughter of the late William Homer and Charlie Mae Walker Cravey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Grady Eugene “Gene” Waters; a son, Mickey Waters; her sister, JoAnn Causey and three brothers, John Cravey, Jimmy Cravey and Mike Cravey.

Survivors include a son, Richard (Terri) Waters, Nahunta; a brother, Jack (Bertha Ruth) Cravey, Waycross; a sister-in-law, Linda Cravey, Waycross; two grandchildren, Kayce Waters and Laney Waters and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, from the Pearson-Dial Chapel with the Rev. Mary Ann Braswell officiating.

Interment will be in the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery in Appling County.
