Pierce County braves Arctic cold to honor King at parade

People gathered at various spots along the MLK Jr. parade route, but as always the crowd was lined up thickest along the front of Wall’s plaza. Photos by Greg O’Driscoll

Passing by the historic Pierce County courthouse the PCHS Sound of Silver Marching Band filled the air with the lively sounds of celebratory music.

Getting his engine and the crowd revved up, one of the riders pops a wheelie.

Clarence Washington Sr. and Whitney Washington didn’t let the cold deter them

Standing in the wind to see the parade are (l-r) Chloe, Charlee and Jenella Rhem, Louella Fuller, Nyla Fuller and (in front) Nasiah Fuller and Princeton Hutto.

Huddled together for warmth (l-r) Lilly English, John English, Cora Godwin, Lillie Griffin and Jordyn Godwin wait for the parade to turn off Main St. and make its way down Hwy. 84.
