Ware County notched two region victories with the Gators beating visiting New Hampstead and going on the road to turn back Perry.
The Gators (12-4 overall, 2-1 region) built a 24point advantage through three quarters in turning back the Phoenix (10-8, 2-1) 86-75 Tuesday, January 7.
Ware County handed the Panthers (3-13, 0-3) a sixth consecutive loss Friday, January 10 posting a 66-43 road victory.
The Gators also have three games on the schedule for this week with a pair of home games over the weekend. After traveling Tuesday (January 14) to Wayne County (4-11, 0-3), Ware County will host ninthranked Benedictine (13-2, 2-0) Friday, January 17 at 6 p.m.
Warner Robins (9-4, 20) visits Saturday, January 18 at 4:30 p.m.
Ware County travels Tuesday, January 21 to face New Hampstead and will host Perry on Senior Night Friday, January 24.
Gators ..................86 New Hampstead....75 Jarvis Wright scored a season-high 33 points connecting on a seasonhigh seven threes to spark the Gators’ victory over New Hampstead.
Wright hit five treys in his 15-point first half and followed with an 18-point final two periods. Sibiri Williams (two treys) and Darius Ward followed with 13 points and 12 points respectively.
Ware County jetted out to a 27-14 first quarter lead on the Phoenix. The Gators stretched the margin to 47-27 at intermission outscoring the visitors 20-13 in the second stanza.
Ware County recorded a third consecutive 20point period outpointing the Phoenix 22-18 in the third in building a 69-45 lead. New Hampstead fought back over the final eight minutes to make the score respectable outscoring the Gators 3017.
Tayshaun Franklin just missed double figures finishing with nine points. Dedrick Jackson and Tezhan Bolds contributed eight points apiece. Shaun McClam (trey) netted three points.
New Hampstead was paced by the 27 points of Antoine Youmans, who poured in 16 of his 22 second-half points in the final period. Rashaun Truell bagged 10 of his 19 points over the final eight minutes. King Cole finished with 14 points.
Gators..........................................................66 Perry............................................................43 PERRY — The Gators pulled away from a six-point lead entering the final eight minutes outscoring Perry by 17 points to notch the win.
Ware County ended the opening period with a 14-11 advantage over the Panthers. Perry sliced the deficit to points by intermission using a 15-14 scoring advantage to get to within 28-26 by halftime.
The Gators built a 44-38 lead by the end of the third quarter outscoring Perry 16-12. Ware County dominated the final stanza outscoring the Panthers 22-5.
Bolds connected on four of the Gators 10 threes scoring 18 points to lead the way. Wright (two treys) was next with 14 points while Williams (trey) finished with 11 points.
Leo Gardner (two threes), Jackson and Franklin each scored six points. McClam (trey) netted five points.
Perry was led by the 17 points of JuJu Carswell.
