HORTENSE — William Mitchell “Timer” Holton, 52 of Hortense, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025 at his residence following an extended illness.
Born in Waycross, Holton’shis parents were the late William Perry “Dub” Rowell and Sarah Jane King.
Holton worked many years as a foreman with Pike Electric and then went on to work with CSX, where he retired as a general foreman. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Holton loved playing the guitar, NASCAR racing, esp ecially Dale Earnhardt, the Georgia Bulldogs, his Dr. Pepper, hunting and anything outdoors. He also loved spending time with his family and loved his dog.
Survivors include his wife, Dianna Branch, of Hortense; two daughters, Maegan Thrift (Dakota) of Waycross, Sarah Holton (fiancé, Jacob Smith) of Millwood; his bonus children, Art Manning (Raynna) of Hortense and Tiffany Goss, also of Hortense; bonus grandchildren, Jazlynn, Wyatt and Jase Goss; two half-brothers and a sisterin- law, Cecil Hutchinson (Cheryl) of Waycross and Tim Hutchinson, also of Waycross; the mother of his children and her husband, Selina Cumbess (Eddie) of Valdosta; special cousins, Tony Rowell (Denise) of Melbourne, Fla. and Marie Corley (Jimmy) of Waycross; also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m., at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
A funeral service will be held Friday, January 17, 2025 at 1 p.m., at Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Ray McMillan officiating.
Burial will follow in Satilla Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Art Manning, Dakota Thrift, Jacob Smith, Tony Rowell, Tracy Dixon, Sambo Corley and Matt Corley.
