Pierce County’s junior varsity Lady Bears split two defensive battles winning at Tattnall County and falling to visiting Wayne County.
The Lady Bears opened the 2025 portion of the schedule Friday, January 3 in Reidsville recording a 29-25 victory over the Lady Warriors. PCHS fell 21-18 Saturday, January 4 to the Lady Yellow Jackets.
Lady Bears .....................................................29 Tattnall County...............................................25 REIDSVILLE — Caren Drew led eight players in the scoring column finishing with seven points as the Lady Bears notched a victory. Drew was followed by Jose’ziah James’ six points. Kamil Strickland and Keirsten Jones each bagged four points.
Layla Chandel netted three points while Azaela Mobley and Madi McGatha chipped in two points apiece.
Anijha Brown canned a free throw.
Wayne County 21 Lady Bears 18
BEARVILLE — Wayne County outscored the Lady Bears in each of the first three periods to win a defensive battle.
Up 7-4 after one quarter, the Lady Yellow Jackets outscored PCHS 3-2 in the second stanza for a 10-6 halftime lead.
Wayne County outpointed the Lady Bears 8-7 in the third period to open up an 18-13 advantage. PCHS outscored the Lady Yellow Jackets 5-3 in the final period.
Chandel and Mobley led the Lady Bears with four points. Jesslyn Moore netted three points. Aubree Wilkins, Strickland and Drew each scored two points. James added a free throw.
