Johnny Lee Phillips, 72, of Moultrie, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2022.
Born July 21, 1950, in Boston, he was the son of the late C.T. Phillips and Pauline Jordan Phillips. He retired from Connell Electric as an electrician and was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. He loved his family and worked hard to provide for them. He was an avid spectator and supporter of all his grandchildren’s events and activities.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Gerald Phillips, Jerry Phillips, Larry Phillips and wife Hazel; sister, Debbie Collier; brother-in-law, Buster Morgan; sister-in-law, Kay Connell and niece, Loretta Phillips Williams.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 51 years, Lucy Connell Phillips, Moultrie; children, Lisa Beckham and husband Scott, Valdosta, John Phillips and wife Carman, Blackshear; grandchildren, Harlie Wainright and husband Dawson, Kristin Jackson and husband Toddrick, J. Reid Phillips, Dani Beckham and Thomas “Tommy” Beckham; fur baby, “Baby”; sisters, Gail Garren, Deanie Wilson and husband Danny, all of Coolidge and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, from the Hopewell Baptist Church with the Rev. Julian Griner officiating.
Interment will follow in Hopewell Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Tommy Beckham, J. Reid Phillips, Dawson Wainright, Scott Connell, Brandon Connell and Matt Deal.
