Blackshear’s newest restaurant, Smokehouse 84, is open for business. Renovations complete, kitchen up and running, there was a sneak preview of things to come at a special invitation-only breakfast last Friday. By lunchtime Monday, both the drive through and sit-down customers were keeping things hopping. Located in the old Jerry J’s in the Cotton Exchange plaza of Blackshear, Smokehouse 84 intends to make its own mark on the location and the menu. Serving hungry customers, there wasn’t much time to talk, but the crew working Friday’s special breakfast did pause long enough for a picture. Above left (l-r) are Reva Turner, She’kih Williams, proprietor Amanda Loomis, Brittany Teegardin, Katelyn Murray, Joe Loomis, John Henderson (kneeling), Maybelle Butler and D’wan Smith. Above right are two men serious about their barbecue, William Maxwell and Samuel Fletcher. Pictured below, sampling Smokehouse 84’s menu and loving it, are Christi Pitts (left) of the Chamber of Commerce and Stacey Thrift of Hospice Satilla.
