NAHUNTA — A convicted felon with an active warrant and in possession of two firearms plus ammunition was arrested December 30.
The Nahunta Crime Suppression Unit’s (CSU) K-9 Unit was actively investigating a domestic- related incident when officers conducted a traffic stop on a Dodge truck driven by Thomas Clark Lyons, 39, of Nahunta.
During the course of the investigation, a search of the vehicle revealed two firearms and ammunition. Further investigation also uncovered Lyons having a lengthy criminal history and is a convicted felon.
Additionally, officers determined Lyons had an outstanding warrant for Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer dating back to 2018.
Officers placed Lyons under arrest without further incident. He was charged with Aggravated Stalking and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
Lyons was transported to the Brantley County Sheriff’s Office for booking procedures.
The Nahunta Police Department commended the CSU K-9 Unit for their diligence and professionalism in ensuring the safety of the community.
The case currently remains under investigation.
