HORTENSE – Albert Wright Mitchell, Sr., 70 of Hortense, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross.
Mitchell was born in Brunswick. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Debra Sue Dykes Mitchell; two sisters, and a brother.
Mitchell worked for Glynniron Steel as a metal specialist. He enjoyed working on cars, fishing and hunting. Mitchell loved his animals and being outside. Most of all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Albert Wright Mitchell, Jr. (Mo) of Brunswick; three daughters and sons-inlaw, Rosie Mitchell (Timothy) of Brunswick, Tracy Goddard (Steven) of Brunswick and Amanda Mitchell (William Watts) of Hortense; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; two sisters, Joann Landon of Jesup and Dorisann Ribbon of Nahunta; and also several other relatives and a host of friends.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 10, 2025 at 5 p.m., at Frye Funeral Home with Bro. Hugh Harris officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior starting at 4 p.m.
