Luke Johns

NAHUNTA — Luke Johns, 46 of Nahunta, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross after an extended illness.

Johns was born in Waycross to Shelby Jordan and Mary Virginia “Ginger” (Johns) Chaffin and lived in Nahunta most of his life. He was a self-employed mechanic and enjoyed racing, fishing, working on his race cars, and especially spending time with family and friends. He was of the Christian faith.

Johns was preceded in death by his father, Shelby Jordan; adopted father, Lonnie Johns; maternal grandfat her, William Riley “Bill” Johns; and paternal grandparents, Roscoe and Macie Johns.

Survivors include his wife, Marla Johns of Nahunta; one son, Dalton Johns Saunders of Waycross; one daughter, Kadynce Johns Hutchins of Clinton, Tenn.; his mother and step-father, Ginger and James Chaffin of Hickox; maternal grandmother, Lydia Burch of Nahunta; three brothers, Rodney Johns of Hickox, Linton Chaffin (wife Brea) of Brunswick and Blake Chaffin of Brunswick; three sisters, Misty Johns of Alabama, Kacie Lake (husband Bobby) of Blackshear, and Shellie Morgan of Hoboken; mother-inlaw and father-in-law, Marlene and Everett Pearson of Hoboken; sister-inlaw, Priscilla Walsh (husband Cole) of Blackshear; special nephew, Griffin Walsh of Blackshear; two special nieces, Gloria Johns of Nahunta and Dixie Johns of Nahunta; also several other relatives and a host of friends.

A funeral service was held Saturday morning, January 4, 2025 at the chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Chuck Allen officiating.

Burial followed in Bethlehem Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Levi Johns, Tyler Johns, Jarrett Johns, Rodney Johns, Bryan Beasley and Chad Taylor.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
