MOULTRIE — Ware County’s wrestling Gators placed third here in the 10team, two-day Packer Classic hosted by Colquitt County over the weekend.
Split into two five team pools, the Gators (28-4) went 3-1 in Saturday’s pool play beating Thomas County Central 46-23, Berrien 76-5 and Lowndes 50-24. Ware County fell 51-24 to tournament host Colquitt County. The Gators beat Veterans 69-6 in the third-place match.
Ware County traveled Tuesday, January 7 to Brunswick.
Friday’s action consisted of girls and junior varsity action. The Lady Gators’ Emalee Hendrix was third in the 120/125 lbs., combined weight class.
The jayvee Gators had four champions with Noah Paul (120 lbs.), Brody Wood (138), Charles Sams (150) and Nick Grant (285) capturing their respective weight classes.

Haddock (130) placed fourth going 1-2. Her victory was by pin while the losses were via pin.
Cambria McLaughlin (135) also went 1-2 winning once by pin and suffering two pin losses.
