Bates lone WCHS rep on all-state team, PCHS and Clinch have three

ATLANTA — Ware County, Pierce County, Clinch County and Charlton County were each represented by all-state selections in their respective classifications.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution released its 2024 all-state teams Monday, December 30.

Milton senior quarterback Luke Nickel, who led his team to the Class 5A title a year after a Class 7A championship and being tabbed Offensive Player of the Year, was the AJC’s all-classification Player of the Year.

Ware County senior William Bates was the lone representative of the Gators’ program to receive Class 4A all-state honors.

PCHS senior quarterback Caden McGatha, the Class AA Offensive Player of the Year in 2023, was named to this year’s all-state team as was teammate/ classmate Dixon Morris as a linebacker. Senior wide receiver/ defensive back Joe Drew was tabbed honorable mention.

Clinch County senior quarterback Aaron Bryant (athlete) and junior offensive lineman Calyja Lee were named to the Class A Division II team. Senior linebacker Blaze Small was honorable mention.

Charlton County junior running back Omari Wilson received honorable mention status.

Region 1-AAAA Bates was one of nine players selected to the team. Four others received honorable mention status.

Benedictine led the way with four all-state players. Senior offensive lineman Jacobe Ward, senior place-kicker Connor Ferguson senior linebacker Herbert Scroggins III and junior defensive lineman Kameron Cody represent the Cadets.

Warner Robins had three allstate players and one honorable mention. Senior defensive lineman Isaiah Gibson and senior defensive back Rasean Dinkins were joined by junior offensive lineman Tre Glover. Senior quarterback Skyler Williams was an honorable mention.

New Hampstead senior wide receiver Kamari Maxwell was the final all-state member. Senior quarterback Rashawn Truell received honorable mention status.

Region champ Perry had two honorable mention selections in senior linebacker Jordan Donald and junior athlete Decorrion Daniels.

Region 3-AA Only two other players from Pierce County’s region received all-state status.

Region champion Appling County senior linebacker Tavion Wallace was one of two Pirates recognized. Sophomore linebacker/ running back Jaiden Knight was honorable mention.

Cook High junior Brooks Moore made all-state as a punter.

Crisp County senior defensive back Cayden Daniels and junior wide receiver Deshaun Fedd received honorable mention status.
