Pierce schools rank top tier for mastery of 2023-2024 learning content

Pierce County Schools ranked in the top tier in the area and in the state in content mastery for the 2023-2024 school year.

Content mastery addresses whether students are achieving at the level necessary to be prepared for the next grade, college, or career. Content mastery includes achievement scores in English language arts, mathematics, science and social studies.

All Pierce County Schools exceeded the state average and four of five schools were number one or at least in the top three in the eight-county Okefenokee Regional Service Agency (RESA) region.

Pierce County Middle and Pierce County High Schools were both number one in the RESA with scores of 81.5 for PCMS and 95.8 for PCHS.

The state average for middle schools was 64, while the state average for high schools was 68.2 Among the county’s three elementary schools, Patterson Elementary was number one in the region at 96.8. Midway Elementary finished tied for third with Kingsland Elementary in Camden County. Both schools had a score of 93.2. St. George Elementary in Charlton County scored 95.1 to take second place.

Blackshear Elementary finished 15th of the 36 elementary schools in the RESA region with an average of 79.4. All local schools were ahead of the state average of 67.8.
