Richard Monroe Chancy, 79, of Offerman, passed away Monday afternoon, December 12, 2022, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross.
Born in Offerman, April 29, 1943, he had made Offerman his home his entire life. He was a 1961 graduate of Patterson High School and was a carpenter the majority of his life working last for Diversified Fabricators and Directors in Brunswick. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing checkers, watching NASCAR races (Kyle Busch was his favorite driver) and watching college football. He was of the Church of God faith.
He was a son of the late Thomas Jefferson Sr. and Sinnie Elizabeth Carter Chancy. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Don Edward Chancy and Thomas Jefferson Chancy Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Chancy and Faye Chancy and by a nephew, Jonathan Guest.
Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Robert Guest, Offerman; a brother and sister-in-law, James Wade and Linda Chancy, Blackshear; seven nieces and nephews, Christie (Bill) Christopher, Drew (Libby) Dodd, Donna Chancy, Mitchell (Mary) Chancy, Shelley (Jorge) Costillo, Roger (Rachel) Chancy and Brad (Samantha) Guest; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews and several other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.
Interment will be in the Offerman Cemetery.
