Myrtis Louise Mikell Jacobs, 79, of Waycross, passed away Wednesday evening, November 30, 2022, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross.
Born in Waycross September 16, 1943, she had lived in Ware County most of her life. She was a 1961 graduate of Waycross High School. She had been a bookkeeper for Waycross Battery & Electric prior to going to work for the State of Georgia doing bookkeeping for the Ware County Fire Department, the Ware County Airport and lastly, Ware County E.M.A. She loved riding horses and working in her yard. She was a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church where she had been active in picking up the senior ladies and taking them to church on Sundays. She had also attended Jamestown Baptist Church some years ago.
She was the daughter of the late Willie Otis and Myrtis Louise Bennett Mikell.
Survivors include her two daughters and a son-in-law, Lisa Bailey, Waycross and Laura and Chris Doremus, Needville, TX; five grandchildren, Shane (Ashley) Music, Jordan (Jarrod) Hickox, Andrew (Sierra) Martinez, Jackson Doremus and Emily Doremus; four great-grandchildren, Haylee Music, Harper Music, Mavery Martinez and Claire Hickox and several other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5-6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Rehobeth Baptist Church.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, from the Rehobeth Baptist Church with the Rev. Phil Jordan officiating.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
