Holt’s Sweet Shop, 1809 Reynolds Street, suffered a small fire Friday morning, December 27, according to Waycross Fire Department Interim Fire Chief Jim Blackburn.
The chief said the business will be closed until inspection by the Georgia Department of Agriculture.
“It’ll likely be next week before they can get there,” Blackburn said of the impending arrival of inspection team Friday afternoon.

“The fire appeared to be electrical in nature,” he said.
Personnel put out the fire with an extinguisher and then worked to ventilate smoke from the building.
Two department apparatuses and 10 personnel responded to the scene, which Blackburn said was cleared at 10:01 a.m.
