Pafford, Gibson honored

Williams Elementary staff members Jennifer Pafford and Cole Gibson were chosen as the Golden Achievement Award Winners for December 2024.

Pafford, a first grade teacher, was the certified honoree while Gibson, a special education paraprofessional, was the classified recipient.

Principal Dr. Bill Epps introduced both Pafford and Gibson at the December meeting of the Ware County Board of Education.

Dr. Epps called Pafford, who previously served as a second grade teacher, a remarkable teacher who possesses the the extraordinary ability to transform not only the minds but also the lives of their students.

“Mrs. Pafford, an exemplary educator at our school, epitomizes the qualities of a truly exceptional teacher. Her unwavering passion for teaching is evident in the innovative and engaging lessons she creates, sparking curiosity and enthusiasm in her students,” he said. “Beyond the curriculum, Mrs. Pafford fosters a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment, where every student feels valued and supported.

“Mrs. Pafford’s impact extends beyond academics; she instills essential life skills, such as critical thinking, resilience, and a love for learning, leaving an unforgettable mark on each student in her class.”

The principal said Pafford’s genuine care for her students makes her stand out.

“Her glowing smile and loving personality are welcoming to students and staff alike. She takes the time to understand each student's unique strengths and challenges, tailoring her approach to meet individual needs,” he said. “Her kindness and empathy create a supportive atmosphere that encourages students to express themselves and take intellectual risks. Mrs. Pafford embodies the essence of a superb teacher, and her contributions to our school community are immeasurable.”

Moving to Gibson, known as “Coach,” Dr. Epps said the honoree was marked by his “enthusiastic desire” to pour into the lives of students when he came into the school year.

“This individual is a true team player, whose willingness to be flexible in their position and assist wherever they are needed is a testament to their unselfish desire for all to succeed. Coach Gibson goes above and beyond to ensure every child feels valued, respected, and empowered to succeed,” the principal said. “His ability to connect with students, adapt to their individual needs, and provide critical support to teachers demonstrates his extraordinary professionalism and heart. His presence in the classroom transforms it into a space where learning thrives and challenges become opportunities for growth.”

Dr. Epps said Gibson’s efforts extend beyond time in the classroom.

“Whether assisting in academic tasks, offering a listening ear, or encouraging small victories, Coach Gibson’s impact resonates deeply with everyone he encounters,” he said. “Coach Gibson’s commitment to fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment inspires not only the students he supports but also his colleagues and the entire school community.”
