Ware County Commissioners approved two resolutions, one application for alcohol licenses, and an appointment to the Waycross/Ware County Land Bank Authority during their December meeting.
Both resolutions dealt with the Tax Commissioner’s office. The first (Resolution 2024-34: Delegating Authority to the Tax Commissioner to Waive Penalties and Interest) gives Tax Commissioner Roger Collins the authority to waive certain penalties and interest.
It was voted on during the December 9 meeting and approval is required every four years when the Tax Commissioner begins a new term. The delegation of authority can be found in O.C.G.A. 48-5-242.
The second (Resolution 2024-35: Authority for Tax Commissioner to Accept Payments of Taxes) allows the Tax Commissioner to accept payment of taxes in any form instead of cash only.
The resolution is renewed every four years when the Tax Commissioner starts a new term.
William Simmons was appointed to the Waycross/Ware County Land Bank Authority board to fill the vacated seat of Post 7 currently held by Carlos Nelson, whose term expires December 31.
Nelson cannot serve again as he has completed a full four-year term.
Tejasben Patel was approved for an alcohol license to sell beer and wine for consumption off premises for Huey’s Country Store, 7471 Albany Avenue in Millwood.
A second alcohol license request was tabled until January. Harlee Tianna Harris and Sara Kaitlin Hickox were not present to answer questions commissioners raised concerning their business (Cocktail Caravan, LLC of 4131 Knight Avenue) plan.
Their mobile catering business is seeking a license to sell beer, wine and liquor by the drink. This is the first business applying for this particular license.
