MLK Holiday Parade set for Jan. 20

Special to the WJH The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Parade will be held at noon Monday, January 20 in Downtown Waycross.

The theme for the parade is “Mission Impossible: Protecting Freedom, Justice and Democracy in the Spirit of Nonviolence 365.”

There is a $20 fee for parade units and $25 for vendors or food trucks during the festivities.

Applications are available at the tourism desk in City Hall or by calling/text to (912) 337-6062.

The parade will assemle at 10 a.m. at the old Mc-Donald Street School. All parade units must be decorated and portray the event’s theme.

There will be three prizes for each unit in divisions for floats ($300, $150, $100) and vehicles ($100, $75 and $50). Walking units must have adult supervision.

All businesses, community organizations, churches and schools are encouraged to enter. Deadline to enter the parade or reserve a vendor/food truck spot is Wednesday, January 15.
