Rebuilding effort seeks residents Rebuilding Together Waycross is taking applications for its 2025 workday rehabilitating Ware County homes.

At the workday in April, volunteers make critical home repairs free of charge to qualified applicants. County residents must own the home, be 62 or older or have a permanent disability, and meet low income guidelines.

Applications can be obtained at Action Pact, Southeastern Credit Union, Central Baptist Church and Waycross City Hall. Applications also are available by visiting www.rebuildingtogetherwaycrossweebly. com.

Ware Rec. Dept. sets senior dance The Ware County Recreation Department will stage a Senior Dance from 7 to 10 p.m., Saturday, January 11 at the the Trembling Earth Complex, 2110 Cecil Brown Drive.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. with admission $7 per person. DJ Fred Hand will offer the music, and there will be light refreshments, a 50/50 raffle, and more.

Chamber seeks hosts for events The Waycross-Ware County Chamber of Commerce is compiling its list of hosts for its Rise ‘n’ Shine and Business After Hours meetings for 2025. Rise ‘n’ Shine is held at 7:45 a.m. and Business After Hours at 5 p.m., each once every month.

Businesses interested in being a host for one or both of the events in the coming year can email chamber@waycrosschamber. org.

‘Touch a Truck’ scheduled Jan. 11 Ware County’s 4-H and its UGA Extension Agency are teaming to stage a free “Touch-a-Truck” safety event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, January 11 at the Okefenokee Fairgrounds, 2335 Knight Avenue.

There will be a variety of vehicles — fire truck, police car, SWAT car, ambulance, excavator, etc. — for attendees to learn from and interact with. There also will be a car seat checkup.
