Waycross Mayor Dr. Michael-Angelo James has been appointed the new State Chair for Psychology, Sociology, and Employability, First-Year Experience, and College Success for the Technical College System of Georgia.
Mayor James, a distinguished Sociology Instructor at Coastal Pines Technical College in Waycross, will serve for the 2025-27 term, the system said in announcing the appointment.
The system said Dr. James brings extensive expertise and dedication to this pivotal role. He was elected by the Instructional Faculty Council (IFCC) to serve as Chair.
“I’m deeply honored and humbled to serve as the State Chair,” Dr. James said. “I look forward to collaborating with my colleagues to further enhance the educational experience for our students and to contribute to the continued success of the Technical College System of Georgia.”
In his role as Chair, Dr. James will be responsible for chairing meetings, monitoring list serve members and communications, and ensuring IFCC consortium information is effectively communicated to the appropriate TCSG Curriculum Program Specialist (CPS).
His appointment reflects TCSG’s ongoing commitment to fostering academic excellence and enhancing the educational experience for all students across the state.
