Pierce County’s junior varsity teams won two of their three games to close out the first half of the season.
The Lady Bears opened the week defeating Clinch County 28-20 Monday, December 16 in Homerville. They closed the week falling 48-22 Friday, December 20 at Brantley County.
The Bears notched a 55-45 decision against the Herons Friday.
Lady Bears JV .............................28 Clinch Co. JV...............................20 HOMERVILLE — A six-point first quarter advantage proved to be more than enough for the Lady Bears.
PCHS led 8-2 after one quarter and stretched the margin to 10 points by halftime using a 7-3 scoring advantage in the second period to build a 15-5 lead. Clinch County outscored the Lady Bears 15-13 in the second half.
Jose’ziah James led PCHS with 12 points. Azaela Mobley was next with nine points. Layla Chandler bagged four points with Caren Drew and Keirsten Jones netting two points and one point respectively.

Lady Bears JV .............................22 CANEY BAY — Brantley County recorded a first quarter shutout and was never headed in beating the Lady Bears.
BCHS raced out to an 18-0 first quarter advantage and was never headed.
Drew led the Lady Bears with seven points with Chandler contributing five points and Mobley scoring three points.
Jesslyn Moore, Patience Smith and James each chipped in two points. Madi McGatha added a free throw.
Bears JV ......................................55 Brantley Co. ................................45 CANEY BAY — Jemal Strickland, Mershon Stanfield and Kendric Benson combined for 43 points leading PCHS past the Herons.
Strickland scored a game-high 18 points to lead the trio of double figure scorers for the Bears. Stanfield followed with 14 points with Benson adding 11 points.
Gehad Taylor and Amir McKenzie were next in the scoring column for PCHS with four points and three points respectively. Dillon Johnson and Kendell Mackey added two points apiece. Ty Monroe canned a free throw.
