Bertha Louise Biddy Allen, 91, of Waycross, passed away Tuesday morning, December 6, 2022, at her residence, following an extended illness.
Born July 26, 1931 in Charlotte, NC, she was a daughter of the late Ollie L. and May Bird Biddy. She grew up in Taylorsville, NC and then moved to Jacksonville, FL where she met her husband, the late James W. Allen. They moved to Waycross with his job with the railroad in 1957 where she lived until passing. She had worked as a waitress at the Green Frog, Holiday Inn and Hornsby’s House of Beef and was a member of Indian Mound Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother (who raised her due to the passing of her mom), Mattie Caroline Fox Biddy; a son, Ray Allen; two sisters, Minnie Mae Rodgers and Margie Patton and a brother, George Biddy.
Survivors include three children, Donald J. Allen, MaryAnn Allen and Dale H. Allen, all of Waycross; eight grandchildren, Margaret Davis, David Allen, Claire Griffin, Caitlin Hall, Christina Allen, James Curtis Allen, Joey Allen and Abigail Allen; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Homer Biddy (wife Renee), Taylorsville, NC and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Shiloh Cemetery.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, from the Shiloh Cemetery with the Rev. Clayton Davis officiating.
