The Waycross Christmas tree (top photo) was lit during First Friday festivities December 6. Downtown Waycross Merchant’s Association President Melissa Ingle (l-r), City Manager Ulysses “Duke” Rayford, Commissioners Sheinita Bennett, Shawn Roberts and Mayor Michael-Angelo James braved the chilly temperatures to ring in the holiday season. The annual Christmas Parade took center stage Friday, December 13 with many beautiful floats. Pictured below is the float done in memory of Hadleigh Lee, an eight-year-old Midway Elementary School student in the Pierce County School System. Lee was killed April 20, 2024 in a wreck involving alcohol across from the Okefenokoee Fair Grounds.
