PCMS Bears basketball teams earn wins

November 14, 2022 Pierce County Middle School (PCMS) eigth grade boys basketball won 42-2 against McIntosh

Bears basketball hosted Martha Puckett Middle School November 16.

It was a competitive game with the Bears trailing by two points (22-20) at halftime.

However, a third-quarter turn around put the Bears ahead by two points (28-26), setting the stage for a strong fourth quarter that earned PCMS a victory.

“The Bears began to  full court press two minutes into the fourth quarter and the Jackets couldn’t handle it!,” said Boys Coach Denise Brown.

Brown added that free throws were key to the Bears’ win.

“Shooting 60% from the free throw line made the difference. Leading the Bears from the free throw line and in points, Jae’veon Williams shot 71% from the line and finished the game with 16 points,” said Coach Brown.

Other standout players include Jamil Strickland and Chance Williams, who both shot 50% from the line and scored from the field as well.

Strickland finished with 13pts and Williams finished with 10pts.

Blayne McQuaig was 50% from the line, contributing one point and Taylor Thrift scored  two points.

The Bears are now 3-2 on the season.

The team’s next game will take place December 1 at home against Ware.

The eighth grade girls basketball won 40-27 against McIntosh to improve to 2-2 on the season.
