NAHUNTA — Sheriff Len Davis, along with his deputies, investigators and other staff members were joined by the Hoboken Police Department, Nahunta Police Department, Georgia State Patrol and Georgia Dept. of Natural Resource officers to help 22 local children enjoy a happy holiday season. Members of law enforcement and their “partners” traveled Saturday morning to Walmart in Waycross for some Christmas shopping. The purpose of “Shop With A Cop” is to project a better image of law enforcement. The event focuses on underprivileged children and families. Officers spend time with the children and shop with them in a local store. The children are given a gift certificate to purchase any items they want. The officer acts as a chaperone and companion to the children throughout the day as they shop.
